Julia’s garden is hidden in the backroads of the Carmel Valley of California. On the second day of the Carmel plein air festival, I wanted to go to the same location I had painted the day before. I had bonded with this beautiful bit of earth and wanted to paint the fragrant flowering fruit trees. Upon arrival that morning, it looked like Julia had just left her garden as the wheel barrowl was avandoned, laying on its side full of weeds. I  began my painting and had just finished dividing the canvas into shapes which is always an exciting part of painting for me. (See image below.) Just then Julia came by to say hello and see how the the painting was progressing. We talked a bit then she wandered off to finish her chores and I continued to paint.

On the first day of the festival, I painted at this same location and made the painting called "Julia’s Garden."
