During my last painting trip to Sonoma, I was fortunate to be allowed to paint with my painting students at the Valley of the Moon Winery in late October. The 19th-century stone building is surrounded by lush "old vine" Zinfandel vineyards in the scenic, picturesque Valley of the Moon in Glen Ellen, California. It is the old gnarled vines that I wanted to paint, looking north toward the Mayacama Mountains.
