Kathleen Elsey Self Portrait after Jawlensky
14" x 11"

While I was recovering from a surgical procedure, I couldn't paint for a few weeks. Finally, when I was able to stand at the easel for thirty minutes, I had to paint fast, and this is the painting that happened. I had been studying Jawlensky's work just before painting this. I had a who-cares-what-this-looks-like attitude. I was just so happy to be at my easel painting. I realize looking back that it has a rather scarey look...that is how I felt recovering from surgery. |
