I am becoming infatuated with color, light and interiors. I have been thinking of this painting for months, and finally I am making it. There is something about the porch that reminds me of my childhood. The screened in porch, the dark green color of the doors, the stone floor and the abundance of patterns and fabrics in the room were speaking to me. The early morning light was irresistible as it shone over the furniture and magnified the beauty of the hydrangeas which I had just picked and placed in a copper vase. Compositional thinking becomes increasingly complicated when the events of my past life become part of my present images. It was hauntingly familiar. There is somethng about the porch that I am very attached to. The feminine quality, a safe, grounded feeling.
