The Road through Dixon

The Road through Dixon    22“ x 28“ Sold
As seen in Plein Air Magazine 2004

Dixon looked deserted the day I visited. Maybe because it was a hot summer afternoon and all smart people were inside doing siesta. Me, I was painting. These churches lining the street were so old and so beautiful, backlit by the sun, casting long shadows that hot summer afternoon. Thousands of feet must have tread down this little road through the town. In this painting, I was trying to capture the solitude, the beauty and the heat of the afternoon I spent there. I visit this part of the country as often as possible.
